Clear simple text, links and headings

Modified on Fri, 16 Oct 2020 at 10:30 AM

Link text

Write meaningful link text. No more click here links please! Instead the link should explain itself: find out more about the NHS weight loss plan.

Clear text

Make sure your text can be understood by as many people as possible. Write short simple sentences. Only include essential information. Ask a colleague to check it makes sense.

Headings

Use the correct headings in the correct order. Most pages will use Heading 1 for the page title. So you should follow with Heading 2 for major sections of a page and then Heading 3 for sub-sections.
