Add a new Patient Services Widget (written instructions)

Ensure that you are logged into your website. The black admin toolbar should be visible at the top of the screen.

Hover your mouse over the name of your website in the admin toolbar. Select Widgets from the drop-down menu that appears.

This will bring you to the Widgets page. Most of the boxes on the right correspond to different parts of the Home page, and you can check the contents of each area by clicking the expand arrow on each box.  If you have time, you can familiarise yourself with these by looking at each box, and then back at the Home page to see where each box's content is displayed.

The Widgets section of the Dashboard

To add a new Patient Services Widget, you will need to scroll down and find it in the left-hand rows of boxes. Drag and drop this into the box in which you would like it to display.

Once you have dragged and dropped your blank widget into one of the right-hand side boxes, it will expand to show the contents.

From the Widget Type list, you can choose any of the symbols or images listed to display as the image on the widget, even if the name does not match its purpose. Note: any of the items on the list which have Image in their name are an illustration.

The Widget Type drop-down list

In the Title box, add the title, which will be displayed on the Widget on the Home page.

The URL box should be linked to one of the pages on your website, UNLESS you are using an askmyGP image. Note: you can either paste in the full web address of the page you would like to add, or, for pages on your own site, omit the first part of your web address (example: gpsmc.co.uk) and use the second half of the address (example: /patient-info/register/). If you are struggling with this, don't hesitate to drop us an email at [email protected] for a helping hand.

Once you have filled in these boxes, click the Save button to save your new widget. You must do this, otherwise your new widget will be lost.
