The types of widget

This article will explain the different widget options available in the Widgets section of the dashboard and how they can be used on your website.


In the Widgets section, you'll see a list of the different kinds of widget available on the site. Below is a description of the most important widget types and how they can be used on your website.


Archives

This widget is part of the way news is organised on your website. This widget allows people to view news grouped by the month it was published. It generally is only used on the News page of your website.

Branch Phone Number Widget

This widget displays the phone number that you added to a branch widget. It is generally used in the header of your website. It remains up to date, even when you change the branch widget.

Branch Widget

The Branch widget is where details about your practice (opening hours, address, phone number etc.) are added. This is often used on the Home page of your website.

Latest WP Post List/Slider 1

This widget displays your most recently published news stories. You can choose whether to display sticky news on this widget, or just the most recent posts.

NHS Logo Widget

This widget displays an image of the NHS logo. The logo will be updated with the correct regional logo when you set your country in the customiser. It is generally displayed in the Footer of your website.

NHS Find Services Widget

This displays the NHS find services widget. It allows patients to search for a variety of services near them. This is very useful to use on your Home page.

NHS Health A-Z Widget

This widget displays the NHS health A-Z on your website. This is very useful to use on your Home page.

NHS Live Well Widget

This widget displays advice from the NHS Live Well service. This is very useful to use on your Home page.

Patient Services Widget

This widget is used to direct patients to the different sections of your website and can be set to display with an illustration or an icon. Follow this link for more information about how to use the Patient Services Widgets.

Really Simple Image Widget

This widget allows you to add an image to your website. It's very easy to use, and you can use it to add links and alt text, as well as manage other settings.


Text Widget

This widget is used to display text more prominently on your site. An example of this is the Out of hours widget. These should be used very sparingly, so avoid them unless completely necessary.
